Before comparing that figure with ESA Pet’s advertised housing price, check what each amount includes. A first assessment and a returning-client renewal are different purchases. Comparing one provider’s renewal offer with another’s initial evaluation produces a misleading budget.
An evaluation is the core of the service
CertaPet describes connecting people with licensed therapists for clinical assessments. The clinician’s suitability for your location, the appointment format, and the opportunity to discuss your circumstances matter more than the appearance of the finished letter.
Prepare a short, honest explanation of why you are seeking documentation and the role of the animal in your daily life. If you already have a treating professional, ask about discussing the request within that relationship. A new commercial service is one possible route, not an automatic requirement.
If you do not yet have an animal
CertaPet’s FAQ advertises an option for people who have not yet obtained their animal, with a $20 additional charge. Ask what is assessed initially and how animal details are completed later. Do not assume paying that charge means any future animal will automatically suit your circumstances.

Renewal and refund questions
CertaPet advertises a money-back guarantee if not approved. Before ordering, clarify whether this means clinical non-approval, what happens after the consultation, and whether any housing-related outcome is included. A short guarantee statement does not answer every cancellation question.
