Match the refund condition to the event: clinical non-approval, cancellation, renewal, and housing rejection are separate scenarios.
A guarantee needs a specific trigger
ESA Pet’s refund page contains several scenarios and overlapping language. Its opening says sales become final after a consultation or approval, but later sections describe deductions and exceptions. That makes “Is everything refundable?” too broad a question. Ask which provision applies to your order and circumstances. Source: ESA Pet refund policy.
Separate a clinician declining to issue a letter from a housing office declining a request. Also distinguish either outcome from missing an appointment, cancelling voluntarily, or disputing a renewal. Those events can be handled differently.
What the published policy says
The following is a dated reading aid, not a replacement for the contract you accept:
| Scenario | Published condition |
|---|---|
| Clinical non-approval | A partial refund based on the purchase amount. |
| No provider contact | A full refund if no associate or therapist contacts you within two business days after therapist assignment. |
| After consultation | A later section describes a 50% administrative deduction, despite the opening final-sale wording. |
| Annual renewal | Cancel at least seven days before renewal; an already processed renewal is described as 70% refundable. |
| Approved letter rejected | An exception requires legitimate proof of non-acceptance. |
These are different conditions, not one universal full-refund promise. Ask support to reconcile any provisions that appear to overlap before relying on a particular amount.
Before the consultation
Keep a copy of the selected package, receipt, appointment messages, and policy shown when you ordered. Note the time of therapist assignment separately from the time you first completed an intake. If you cannot attend, use the provider’s support channel promptly and request written confirmation of the next step.
Do not assume closing a browser tab cancels an order or that cancelling an appointment also cancels a subscription. Describe exactly what you want to cancel and ask for the resulting billing status.
If a housing office rejects the letter
Keep the written response and identify its stated reason. Ask ESA Pet whether clarification or a verification response is available and what evidence it needs to consider a refund request. Do not alter the clinician’s wording to make the document appear accepted.
A provider’s refund decision and your housing options are separate matters. Use our denial guide to organize the issue, and check the current housing context. A dispute about legal coverage may need local advice rather than another assessment.
A useful question to send before paying
You can ask, in your own words: “For this package, what amount is refundable if the clinician does not approve a letter? What changes after the consultation? Is any recurring plan selected, and how do I cancel it?” Add any specific deadline or form that affects your situation.
Wait for an answer you can understand, then keep it with your order records. For service selection, return to the pricing checklist. This is an affiliate information guide, not ESA Pet customer support; we cannot cancel an order or approve a refund.
