Start with the Arizona housing channel
The Arizona Attorney General’s Civil Rights Division provides fair housing information and a complaint route. Its role is distinct from a clinician’s role: an evaluator considers your disability-related need, while a housing authority or court considers an alleged housing violation.
Keep those decisions separate when comparing services. A website’s offer to issue documentation does not establish that a specific community must accept your request. Our federal update explains why older nationwide assurances need careful checking.
Check where the appointment takes place
If you spend part of the year in Arizona and part elsewhere, tell the clinician where you will actually be during each appointment. Ask them to verify their authorization before the session. A billing address or a preferred time zone does not answer the licensure question.
Also explain whether the animal will live in a year-round apartment, an owned home subject to association rules, or a temporary stay. Do not buy a housing letter before clarifying which setting you need help with.
Build a useful request file
For a managed apartment, save the relevant lease rule and identify the accommodation contact rather than relying solely on a leasing salesperson’s verbal answer. Include the change you seek, the animal involved, and appropriate supporting information. Record the date and method of submission.
If management asks for more evidence, request a specific explanation of what remains unresolved. Keep the response and supporting documents together for any later fair housing inquiry. A state agency’s intake process assesses jurisdiction and facts; submitting an inquiry is not itself an approval for the animal.
