Identify whether a housing program is involved
The Colorado Springs Housing Authority describes the housing programs it administers. If your residence or application is connected to a program, ask which office handles accommodation requests and program-specific paperwork. Its procedures should not be assumed to govern every private rental in the region.
Keep the program and state framework separate
Read the Colorado guide for the 2026 assistance-animal law. A program application, a disability accommodation request, and an evaluator’s documentation are separate parts of a housing file.
Record which forms you have submitted and what remains pending. Ask for acknowledgment and the next review step. A letter package cannot guarantee eligibility for a housing program or determine a placement.
Prepare an assessment that fits the request
Give the clinician the actual documentation instructions and describe the animal’s role. Confirm authorization where you will attend the appointment, and ask about additional forms or later verification before paying.
If the property raises animal behavior or care concerns, address the specific facts as well as the accommodation question. For a refusal or deadline, preserve the written notice and seek suitable advice promptly. Do not assume that a provider’s promise of a quick PDF completes the housing authority’s or landlord’s process.
