Identify Utah’s fair housing resource

The Utah Antidiscrimination and Labor Division, part of the Labor Commission, provides fair housing information and a complaint process. It is a starting point for questions about a housing decision, separate from a clinician’s evaluation of a disability-related animal need.

Review the 2026 federal update alongside the relevant Utah information. Neither a national guide nor an intake receipt establishes the outcome for your home.

Make the connection understandable

Explain what policy adjustment you seek and why the animal-related accommodation matters in your housing situation. Provide appropriate professional support if needed. Avoid sending a document with no explanation of the requested change.

For the evaluation, describe your own experience and the animal’s role. Confirm the clinician’s authorization for the place where you will physically be during the appointment. Ask how the office handles housing forms and later verification.

Keep the conversation focused

If management raises a concern about the animal, request specific facts. A disputed charge, a missing professional detail, and a noise complaint are different issues. Respond to the actual concern and retain the messages in date order.

If a refusal may involve discrimination, ask UALD or an adviser about the relevant route and timing. Keep the property address, policy, submission, and decision available. A clinical letter supports one part of the process; it does not replace the housing review or your practical plan for supervision and care.
